Day 13 - A Day of Reading

Today was one of the most uneventful days so far. Nothing broke on the boat to fix, nothing to steer, no sail changes. It's like all of us today just went into an introspective mode. Reading, writing diary, listening to music. Enjoying time "on their own" on a small space like this boat.

I didn't even have breakfast, though the others did. The pure sugar. Bananas, a cake, and a cookie. Right now I am reading "Outlive" by Peter Attia, and the book stands in stark contrast to the diet we have on board.

Reading the book also makes me really afraid for my father. There was a chapter on cardiovascular disease and it's risk factors, and it read like a 1:1 description of my father's state. He ticks all the boxes for risk factors and I am thinking about what to do, to make him change. Maybe a last ditch, late effort, but maybe still in time.

Our dinner was also a feast again. Christian made some Ciabatta bread, and I prepared a noodle stew, some potatoes and grilled fish filets. The picture doesn't look as appetizing but the menu was absolutely terrific and I still feel full hours later during my night watch.

We also changed our clocks for the night watches again. Sailing so far means that we're slowly traversing different time zones and you can actually see this happening because the sunset is later and later in the day according to our old clocks.

Now night shifts start at the same time again as they did, when we started the journey. Mine goes from 04:00 to 8:30 today and I get to see the sunrise.
